Genie InfoTech ("we", "us", or "our") operates the GenieListen mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

• Text content — Text you paste, type, or import via URL into the App for text-to-speech playback.
• Bookmarks — Reading positions and bookmarks you create within documents.
• Preferences — Your chosen voice, speed, theme, and other app settings.

Information collected automatically:

• Usage statistics — Daily character counts for cloud TTS usage tracking (stored locally on your device only).

Information we do NOT collect:

• We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personal identifiers in v1.0.
• We do not collect location data, contacts, photos, or device identifiers.
• We do not use advertising SDKs or analytics tracking.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Text-to-Speech processing: When you use cloud AI voices, the text content of the section being read is sent to our server (a Firebase Cloud Function) which forwards it to Google Cloud Text-to-Speech to generate audio. This text is processed in real-time and is not stored on our servers.
• URL content fetching: When you import a URL, the App fetches the webpage content directly from your device to extract readable text. We do not proxy or store these requests.
• Local storage: All documents, bookmarks, preferences, and usage statistics are stored locally on your device using an on-device database. This data is not transmitted to our servers.

3. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Google Cloud Text-to-Speech — To generate audio from text when using cloud AI voices. Text is sent to Google's servers via our Firebase proxy for processing. Google's privacy policy applies to this processing: https://policies.google.com/privacy
• System TTS (offline) — When using offline voices, text is processed entirely on your device using Android's built-in text-to-speech engine. No data is sent to any server.

4. Data Storage and Security

• All user data (documents, bookmarks, settings) is stored locally on your device.
• Cloud TTS requests are transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit).
• We do not maintain any user accounts or server-side databases in v1.0.
• If you enable Android's backup feature, your app data may be backed up to your Google account per Android's standard backup behavior.

5. Data Retention

Since all data is stored on your device:

• Your data persists until you delete it within the App or uninstall the App.
• Text sent for cloud TTS processing is not stored on our servers after the audio is generated.
• You can delete any document from your library at any time by swiping to delete.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App processes user-provided text content which may include content from external websites.

7. Your Rights

• You can delete any document or bookmark within the App at any time.
• You can clear all app data through your device's Settings > Apps > GenieListen > Clear Data.
• You can uninstall the App to remove all locally stored data.
• You can use offline voices exclusively to ensure no text data leaves your device.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. You are advised to review this page periodically.
